Club at Jones Creek Undergoing Upgrades
The Club at Jones Creek in Evans, Georgia is in the midst of a $2-million renovation that includes completely redoing the clubhouse and upgrading the course. The clubhouse work began late last year and is nearly complete. The structure will receive a new fitness facility, a redesigned pro shop, expanded menís and womenís locker rooms, and enlarged kitchen.
The course, opened in 1985, will be remodeled with help from the layoutís original designer, Rees Jones, who has been asked to restore the course to his original specifications. According to Tom Grant, the clubís general manager, the greens currently average 4,200 square feet, not the 6,500 square feet Jones originally intended for them. Also part of the project is replacing the bunker sand and building all-new cart paths.
The Club at Jones Creek is a semiprivate facility with 300 members. When the membership total reaches 400, it will turn private. The course renovations are expected to commence later this spring and be completed in spring 2003.
