ClubCorp to Assist in Development of 36-Hole San Diego Facility
ClubCorp recently announced that it has entered into an agreement with San Diego-based El Capitan Golf, LLC, to manage and assist in the development of El Capitan Golf and Country Club, a 36-hole semiprivate golf facility in Lakeside near San Diego.
Construction is under way on the first 18-hole golf course, which has been designed by San Diego-based golf architect David Fleming, and is slated to open in the fall of 2006. Landscapes Unlimited, a construction company based in Lincoln, Nebraska, is building the golf courses. Construction on the clubhouse is set to begin in early 2007, while the second 18-hole golf course, which will be private and designed by a nationally recognized golf architect, is scheduled to open in summer 2007.
Through the agreement, ClubCorp will provide membership development and marketing services, facility development consultation, and full management services. El Capitan memberships will be available by summer of 2005.
"We are very excited about this agreement and our involvement with El Capitan," said John Beckert, ClubCorp's president and CEO. "Not only will the club be a great addition to our family of clubs but also will enhance the Compass Society benefits already offered to our members in Southern California."
William B. Adams, a managing partner of El Capitan, LLC, expressed his support of the relationship with ClubCorp by stating, "Our partners believe we have an outstanding opportunity to develop a beautiful golf and country club for the residents of San Diego County and ClubCorp has a rich history of developing successful clubs with outstanding programs around the world. Together, we plan to create an exceptional club experience."
