Devil’s Head Adds More Golf Holes

Devil’s Head Resort, Ski, Golf & Convention Center in Merrimac, Wisconsin opened another nine holes this summer. The new holes complement the original 18 holes at this year-round destination resort in the Baraboo Hills region. The new nine holes, called “The Glacier,” augments the 6,861-yard, par-73 course.

Promises the designer of the new holes, Arthur Johnson, “Golfers up for the challenge will face rugged terrain with drastic elevation changes, carefully-placed sand bunkers, ponds, and streams, abundant wildlife and breathtaking views.” Added resort owner, Willis Stoick, “Golfers today want the challenge of special courses as well as the beauty of natural surroundings.”

Wisconsin’s fabled Baraboo Hills were carved by glaciers some 15,000 years ago during the last Ice Age. What remains are rolling hills, beautiful forests, glens, native flowers, flowing streams, birds and a variety of wildlife. The outdoor scenery is enriched by the resort facilities at Devil’s Head. These include golf, tennis, mountain biking and hiking in summer, and skiing and snowboarding in the winter. On-site accommodations are suitable for prolonged stays by the whole family.

Devil’s Head Resort lies 1.5 hours northwest of Milwaukee and 45 minutes south of Madison. Nearby facilities include Devil’s Lake State Park, Lake Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Dells tourist mecca, and the Ho-Chunk Casino. For more information or a tee time at Devil’s Head, call 800/472-6670.
