Grand Opening of Payne Stewart Course Set for June 6

The official grand opening of the Payne Stewart Golf Club in Branson, Mo., is set for June 6th. A celebration for members and their guests, local dignitaries and the general public will take place June 6th at 1:00 pm. The festivities will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by an open house of the clubhouse and a complimentary poolside barbecue.

The 18-hole course, co-designed by Chuck Smith and CBS commentator Bobby Clampett, was completed and opened for play in May. The facility, located in the residential community of Branson Hills, is managed by Hilton Golf.

According to director of golf T. J. Baggett, "We are excited to host this grand event as many people have anxiously been waiting our grand opening."

The course involves mature trees, several lakes and significant elevation changes as it winds through the hills and valleys of southwestern Missouri. Also dotting the landscape are dogwoods and redbuds.

"Mr. Smith and Mr. Clampett have designed an outstanding golf course, the owners are providing first-class amenities and the Hilton staff will provide a level of service equal to other nationally-recognized, high-end private golf facilities," added Baggett.

The 7,400-yard layout features plaques recounting Stewart's life and holes named for qualities he displayed on and off the course. The tees will be named after different tartan plaids that Stewart liked to wear. The fairways are zoysia, the rough fescue and the greens A-4 bentgrass.

In addition to the course, the club will offer a practice area with a driving range in 2010, as well as tennis and swimming. The clubhouse features a golf shop, men's and women's locker rooms, a lounge, restaurant, exercise facilities and meeting rooms. The clubhouse and surrounding facilities are built in an Old English style.
