Jack Nicklaus Signature Course a Private Affair
Missouriís first Jack Nicklaus Signature course lies in the Lake of the Ozarks, a four-seasons community with many down-home amenities. The Club at Porto Cima layout winds over rolling hills and borders Shawnee Bend Peninsula. The private track was developed by Peter Brown. Brown, who owns the Seasonís Ridge and Robert T. Jones public courses on the other side of the lake in the Lake of the Ozarks, wanted a private course for residents as well.
The official grand opening for The Club at Porto Cima was held last September. The club is augmented by a 17,000-square-foot clubhouse, a driving range and halfway house. The layout plays as short as 4,800 yards and over 7,000 yards from the tips. In typical Nicklaus fashion, bunkers give an advantage to golfers who can hit high, arching shots over danger and stick the ball on the green.
The private club is but one element of the 2,300-acre Four Seasons-planned community, which includes parks, playgrounds, tennis, swimming, underground utilities, walking trails through natural areas, a restaurant, marina and yacht club.
