New Clubhouse Coming to Coral Creek Club

A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the new clubhouse at Coral Creek Club, a Tom Fazio-designed private golf club located across the causeway from Gasparilla Island and Boca Grande. Yusk Construction Company of Englewood is building the clubhouse designed by Naples-based David Humphrey of Humphrey-Rosal Architects.

Poised for a late 2007 or early ‘08 opening, the 12,000-square-foot clubhouse will provide an inviting environment for members and guests. It will accentuate both indoor and outdoor spaces by offering views of the course and the natural beauty and wildlife of Coral Creek, a salt-water estuary flowing to the Gulf of Mexico.

The facility will feature full-service men’s and ladies locker rooms – each with their own lounge and card rooms, and dining spaces. Members and guests will be able to relax on the verandah or dine in the gazebo, which will face the 18th green.

“The clubhouse groundbreaking is a historic and extremely exciting time for Coral Creek Club,” said Michael Zmetrovich, chief executive officer, Trophy Golf Management. “We take great pride in offering a first-class golf experience that is challenging to experienced players yet playable and inviting for beginner golfers. Now, the new clubhouse will continue to exemplify the casual elegance and polish of Old Florida and days gone by reminiscent here at Coral Creek Club with its grandeur and exclusive level of service. It will be a magnificent addition to the club’s already outstanding facilities.”

The groundbreaking follows Tom Fazio Day in February, when Coral Creek Club’s members and guests honored the renowned architect with a special tournament and reception. During his presentation, Fazio spoke of Coral Creek Club being “one of his favorite courses of the nation,” largely because of its location and setting near the Gulf of Mexico.

“Coral Creek Club is a unique, one-of-a-kind golf course that doesn’t resemble any other course I have designed or any other course that exists. That makes it special,” said Fazio. “People come up to me all the time during my travels around Florida and the rest of the country and tell me they have played Coral Creek. It makes me feel good and validates the work we have done here when they say they really love the golf course and the entire club environment.”
