Ogallala’s Bayside Golf Links a Bargain

Golfers from Nebraska and nearby Colorado are quickly finding their way to Bayside Golf Links near Ogallala, Nebraska. Opened on July 1, 2000, the semiprivate course and resort rest along the shores of 22-mile Lake McConaughy. Located in the southwestern part of the state roughly three hours from Denver, Lake McConaughy is Nebraska’s biggest body of water.

Bayside began with only the front nine open. Work is nearly finished on the back nine, which is slated to open in May 2001. The project’s developer, Bayside Investments, has sold virtually all of the 50 lakeside homes – priced from $80,000 to $100,000 – put on the market. Buyers are attracted to the area because of the new course and the amenities, including a marina as well as tennis and basketball courts.

When completed, Bayside Links will measure 6,500 yards from the tips. Fairways are lined with tall native grasses and bunkers, so if a shot goes astray, golfers will pay a price. A 10,000-square-foot, log cabin-style clubhouse has been built. Besides food and beverage services, the structure houses a deck overlooking the course. The Bayside practice facility boasts a driving range, two practice greens with over 20,0000 square feet of putting surface, and practice bunkers.
