Osprey Meadows Achieves Audubon Certification
Officials with Tamarack Resort in Donnelly, Idaho, have announced that Osprey Meadows Golf Course has achieved complete certification from Audubon International as a Cooperative Sanctuary. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Osprey Meadows has completed the six stages required to reach Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP) certification. These include:
* Site Assessment and Environmental Plan;
* Water Conservation;
* Outreach and Education;
* Wildlife Habitat Management;
* Water Quality Management; and
* Chemical Use Reduction & Safety
"We are extremely pleased to receive complete certification from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program," says Director of Golf Tom Altmann. "From Day 1, we have focused on seamlessly integrating Osprey Meadows into this exceptional environment and have not wavered from that mission. Assistant Superintendent Dustin How has been instrumental in Osprey Meadows attaining this status - working diligently with Audubon International on the necessary steps for complete certification."
The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary is an education and certification program that helps golf courses and other facilities protect the environment. To achieve the Audubon Sanctuary certification, a golf course must demonstrate that it maintains a high degree of environmental quality in each of the six categories. The ACSP provides information and guidance to help golf courses, businesses and organizations preserve and enhance wildlife habitat, and protect natural resources.
"Osprey Meadows has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program," says Jim Sluiter, Staff Ecologist for the ACSP. "They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property."
