Private Course Opens at Lake of Isles

The members of Lake of Isles in North Stonington, Conn., were able to take their first swings at the private South (Private) Course on April 19. The Rees Jones-designed course features rolling terrain, island tees and greens and outstanding views.

"The turf looks absolutely fantastic after a long winter," stated Brock Nicholas, director of golf. "My hat goes off to our agronomic crew. Our guys toured the property daily making notes and adjustments; they spent countless hours refining plans for 2005 and preparing for this very moment. Because of their hard work and dedication, our members will enjoy superior playing conditions right from opening day."

South is available to members and their guests. Privileges include private dining room, locker room and practice facility. In addition, members receive playing privileges at over 140 of the finest golf clubs around the world through the Troon Golf Advantage program. A limited number of memberships at Lake of Isles are still available.

"Our members are very excited for the golf season," stated Cindy Demma, membership director. "We have hosted a number of member functions over the winter and they are truly elated with the facility and looking forward to playing this year."

The Resort Course, also designed by Rees Jones, will officially open May 21, 2005. The Golf Academy, a year-round practice facility, is scheduled to open later this summer. Eight four-bedroom luxury villas will be completed in 2006.

Owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and located next to Foxwoods Resort Casino, the two courses at Lake of Isles wind through 900 acres of wooded countryside and around a 90-acre lake. In addition to the courses, amenities include a 50,000-square-foot clubhouse. For more information on Lake of Isles, call 888/475-3746 or visit
