Putnam wins Pacific Coast Amateur

Andrew Putnam capped a fine week, firing a 1-under-par 70 Friday to win the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship by four strokes.

The native of University Place, Wash., finished 7-under 68-69-70-70 - 277, at Eugene Country Club in Oregon.

The senior-to-be at Pepperdine enjoyed a five-stroke lead heading into the final round. The victory matched that of his older brother Michael, who also won the prestigious PCA at Eugene, in 2004.

Daniel Miernicki of the University of Oregon finished second at 3-under 281, while 2008 U.S. Junior Amateur champion Cameron Peck of Texas A&M and Olympia, Wash., ended up in third at 282.
