The Wilderness at Fortune Bay Set to Open
The Wilderness at Fortune Bay in Tower, Minn., will open for public play on Friday, April 21. The driving range will open on Tuesday, April 18.
The Jeffrey Brauer-designed layout recently earned a spot among Golfweek's "America's Best" list in the state-by-state rankings. This followed it being named runner-up in the National Golf Foundation's annual Customer Loyalty Awards, and its listing in Golf Digest's "Best New Upscale Public Course" of 2005. In addition, Travel + Leisure Golf magazine ranked The Wilderness among its "Ten Best New Public/Resort Courses" of 2005.
Unveiled in May 2004 as part of Fortune Bay Resort Casino, The Wilderness at Fortune Bay is located on the shores of Lake Vermilion and offers some outstanding panoramas. Owned by the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and operated by KemperSports, the layout in northern Minnesota measures 7,207 yards from the tips.
