Two New Golf Courses Proposed for North Dakota

Two golf courses and a retreat center have been proposed in Medora, North Dakota. The Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Foundation has been eyeing a site for the project about four miles south of Medora in the Badlands along the Little Missouri River. The foundation hopes to increase tourism in the area with the facility.

The Medora City Council has been asked to contribute seven years of its -percent sales tax to the project. The tax was initiated last year with the intention of providing a two-year, $100,000 contribution to the proposed Cowboy Hall of Fame building in downtown Medora. In order to fund the golf courses, the tax would have to be extended.

Randy Hatzenbuhler, president of the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Foundation, presented the $10-million project to the city council. He will not receive a reply from the city until public meetings address the proposal.
