Work Progressing on Palmer Course

After a good spring and summer, a new Arnold Palmer-designed course – King’s Walk – in Grand Forks, North Dakota, was growing in nicely in late-September 2001. The $5.6-million project involves an 18-hole, Scottish-style links. The new course is being built by Enebak Construction of Northfield, Minnesota, and will open next spring.

The layout features several 40-foot-high hillocks that wrap around two man-made lakes, the biggest of which is 8.5 acres. An extensive drainage system was built, with underground pipes leading to the lakes and drainage ditches to alleviate the heavy rainfall common in Grand Forks County.

Also underway is a 16-acre driving range near the 1st tee. The clubhouse will be a 5,300-square-foot, early-American style structure similar to those found on Cape Cod.
